I put this together partially because a friend of mine was a bit unhappy with what I did with Catalonia’s deservedly bright happy image in a previous post. Understandable – still a friend, so I truly hope this visual arrangement is more pleasing. That wasn’t about Barcelona at all, which made for a great weekend visit; and I’m a little more careful these days about calling Berlin the coolest cheapest sexiest city in the EU.
I feel privileged to have witnessed the independence demonstrations, and while at the time I was not too interested, it evoked poignant memories of the emancipation process of my own country Jamaica, and problems that still exist.
The EU is evermore challenged by troubled migrants threatening its shores with their own lives; Australia is now paying Cambodia 40 Million in [aid] to take and accommodate its troubled migrants, the US administration’s ‘rocket-docket’ deniably sentences troubled children migrants to doom in rocket time, and the global slavery index rises by 20% over 2013 – to almost 36 Million souls enslaved in forced labour, sexual servitude and bondage in debt. Soft, distant, unfair or anecdotal? Maybe but strong enough to win headlines and interest.
True love can only exist where independence is neither feared nor frowned upon, and education is the key.
